About This Site

Helping you find great beer — without the alcohol.

NA Beer Finder is a free, quiz-based recommendation tool. Rate a handful of familiar beer styles — at least five to get started — and we'll match you to your top three non-alcoholic beers, each with a percentage match score. No sign-ups, no ads — just a better way to discover NA beer.

Why We Built This

"There are a hundred NA beers out there. Which one do I actually buy?"

That's the problem we kept running into. The non-alcoholic beer market has exploded — it's fantastic news, but it also makes discovery harder. Walking into a bottle shop and staring at a shelf of NA options you've never tasted is daunting. Reviews help, but they tell you what a beer tastes like, not whether it matches your preferences.

We built NA Beer Finder to solve exactly this. Instead of reading reviews, you rate beers you already know well — and we do the matching for you, using the same flavour logic that sits behind how your palate actually works.

How It Works

The whole process takes about two minutes. Here's what happens under the hood:

Step 1

Rate Beer Styles

Each question asks how you feel about a cluster of similar beers — "beers like X, Y, or Z." Rate as Love, Like, Meh, or Dislike, or skip any you don't know. Answer at least five to unlock your match.

Step 2

Flavour Profile Built

Your ratings are converted into a vector across 8 flavour dimensions — hoppiness, bitterness, sweetness, and more.

Step 3

Top 3 Matches Found

We compare your profile to all 100 NA beers in our database and surface your three closest matches — each with a percentage match score so you can see how well they fit.

Every beer in our database — alcoholic and non-alcoholic — is rated 1–10 across eight flavour dimensions:

Hoppiness Bitterness Sweetness Maltiness Body Carbonation Roastiness Fruitiness

The Rating Scale

There are four ways to rate a beer, plus one special option:

  • Love Strong positive signal — pushes your profile strongly toward this beer's flavours.
  • Like Mild positive signal — a gentler nudge in the same direction.
  • Meh Soft negative signal — you've tried it and weren't impressed. Gently pushes your profile away.
  • Dislike Strong negative signal — steers your recommendation firmly away from these flavours.
  • Skip Haven't tried it, or can't remember. Carries zero weight — as if you never saw the question.

Meh ≠ Skip. This is the most important distinction in the whole system. Meh means "I've had it and didn't enjoy it." Skip means "I have no information." They affect your profile very differently.

The Beer Database

The quiz draws from a hand-curated database of 100 well-known alcoholic beers — spanning IPAs, stouts, lagers, hefeweizens, sours, and more. These are grouped into 25 clusters by style and flavour profile, and the quiz asks about one cluster at a time so a few quick answers cover a lot of ground. Each beer is rated across all eight flavour dimensions so we can build an accurate picture of your palate.

Recommendations come from a separate pool of 100 non-alcoholic beers, covering brands like Athletic Brewing, Mikkeller, Bravus, Gruvi, Partake, Big Drop, BrewDog, Clausthaler, Guinness 0.0, and many more. The matching algorithm uses cosine similarity to rank every NA beer against your profile, then presents your top three matches — each with a percentage match score showing how closely its flavour fingerprint fits yours.

Where We're Headed

Great beer was just the beginning.

NA Beer Finder is the first product under NAB — our broader home for Non-Alcoholic Beverages. The mindful-drinking movement isn't limited to beer, and neither are we. The same taste-matching approach that pairs you with the right NA beer works just as well for spirits, wine, and beyond.

Next up is an NA Spirits Finder — applying the same quiz-and-match format to non-alcoholic gin, whiskey, and rum alternatives. Over time, NAB will grow into a single, trusted place to discover whatever you want to drink when you're skipping the alcohol — all sharing the design, the algorithm, and the philosophy you see here.
